To absolutely no one’s surprise feisty veteran singer, guitarist and songwriter Dan Walek’s period of recuperation from recent surgery to alleviate numbness and pain in his arms lasted less than ten days. Although officially he was off-duty until this past Sunday as the host of his weekly jam at McGradie’s Pub in Scarborough (and a Mon. open stage also at the club at 2167 Victoria Park at Ellesmere) he had already shown up at his Thurs. jam in Mississauga the week before to sing backing his son Travis, who was filling in for him as host .
Now, he tells us, he’s able to play “without all that soreness and getting numb all the time,” and felt great after his shows this past weekend. And he’s excited to be back tonight in full flight at the 7-11 event at Wild Wing Southdown, 1375 Southdown Rd. south of the QEW. That also means patrons will be able to enjoy the lively dual guitars act he does with Travis.
