This week’s Zone Music Sunday jam at Red Lion Pub in Ajax (44 Hunt St. ) will be collecting funds for a cancer research fund started by an 11-year old local drummer. The Drumming For A Cure campaign began when young Darius decided to do something to fight cancer after both his grandparents succumbed to the scourge.

With Earl Johnson and his guys (and bassist Debbie Sutton) hosting as usual, the 4:30-8:30 event will also feature special appearances by Anthony Bleed of the Die Mannequin band and by the group Care Failure, as well as by locals such as Al Reilly.

A donations box will be set up and participants are asked to contribute whatever they can.
