\ TO WEST \
A room I haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit (but have toured virtually online) that appears to be designed solely for the pleasure of listening to live music, Burdock at 1184 Bloor Street West seems like an ideal venue in which to check out the Maggie & Mr. Rogers duo along with two other acts tonight.
We told you a little about the versatile and acoustically powerful pair (often supplemented by an accompanist or two) three months ago when they were the feature act at Fat Albert’s Coffeehouse. Singer Maggie Keogh, with her godfather (literally) Scott Rogers on guitar and some vocals, combine Roots, Jazz and Pop into a seamless sonic tapestry that surprises and delights. It appears, based on the promo for the event, that they’re on third of the three-act show that gets underway at 9 p.m.
I’m not familiar with the other two acts (TO songwriter Dana Gavanski and Americana-style Perfect Perfect) that will precede, but the descriptions on the Facebook event page for tonight’s proceedings makes them sound pretty appealing too. Cover is $10.
