\ MISSISSAUGA \

A newish room in Port Credit, that I hadn’t previously been aware of, apparently hosts a Tuesday open stage night —which I only just found out about as a side-effect of learning that a musician I follow, David Hines, is performing there tonight for a special between-Christmas-and-New-Years show he’s putting on.

David, well known as an immensely versatile Pop Rock/Roots Rock guitarist and singer, is also a songwriter. These days he mostly performs with partner Lynette Fairweather in the Hearts Desire duo and various other combos, and is also, as I mentioned recently, part of the house band for the monthly shows put on at Tranzac Lounge by Max Layton.

Tonight, for the  8:30-11 “Whole Bunch of Music” show he’s headlining at The Port House Social Bar at 139 Lakeshore Rd. East, two other talented players —fiddle sensation Victoria Yeh (who often teams up with Tom Barlow at nearby bar The Shore occasional Thursdays) and versatile multi-instrumentalist Mitch Lewis— will also appear, backing the headliners and also for solo sets.

No cover and it sounds like a good reason to check out the room, which used to be known as Ten (and that for a while regularly had live music) as a space for future shows or before attending the open mic.
