The funeral for much loved music booster Jon Long will take place on Friday, April 27 at 3 p.m., his family is set to announce in a death notice to be published Wed. April 25.
An autopsy into his unexpected but peaceful death in his sleep the morning of Friday April 20 found that it was due to previously undiagnosed coronary disease, resulting in a fatal heart attack, according to a source close to his family.
The former credit manager of his family’s Long & McQuade Musical Instruments and veteran drummer, band leader, jam host and promoter, who turned 60 on April 3, leaves two grown children, son Aaron and daughter Victoria, but was pre-deceased by his wife Laurel, who succumbed to cancer in 2003.
The funeral will be held at Grace Church-on-the-Hill at 300 Lonsdale Road off Spadina Avenue a few blocks north of St. Clair Avenue West and all are welcome to attend. Details about visitations or other final arrangements have not yet been released.
