It appears that Gate 403 Jazz/Blues and Roots restaurant on Roncesvalles Avenue is scaling back on its live music for three of the seven days a week it has been presenting two shows per day for several years.

For over 23 years now, as we described in an article in 2015, it has an eclectic roster that has included some of TO’s premier up-and-coming talents who in many cases have gone on to great things as well as many established artists.

The room has featured live music from 5-8 and a separate act from 9 p.m. till close for many of those years.  But the new calendar has adjusted the schedule to feature just one act, from 7-10, each night on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at least for the months of September and October, with a similar pattern evident on the incomplete November calendar on its website.

That means that the weekly Wednesday Blues night shows featuring Juno award winning Blues songwriter Julian Fauth and friends will shift time starting tonight, when they are now scheduled to appear during the new 7-10 time frame. As always, it’s a pay-what-you-can affair, with a small tin bucket set out for donations to the band.
