Even if they did nothing else right, the owners of Dave’s On St. Clair at 730 St. Clair Ave. would have a four-star room in the minds of the Roots community just for providing a venue in which Folk songwriter Glen Hornblast feels right at home. And I bet they’re as happy to have him back “home” again tonight as he is to be there and I am to report it!

Dave’s is a warm-feeling room with a pretty decent selection of taps, a nicely set up music performance area and an overall vibe that shows respect for the artists. While it’s still a bar/bistro, it’s one with class —yet mot at all stuffy.

Through the month of January Glen put on a weekly Sun. evening songwriters-in-the-round series there that was a resounding success [see Moon 130106 and Seen On The Scene] and will hopefully be repeated soon. Tonight he’s not alone either, as he’s sharing the bill with songwriter Annette Shaffer.

It’s an 8pm start and there’s no enforced cover but you’re asked to pay what you can. 17
