R.I.P. Gary Latimer, veteran bass player
\Toronto\
Another veteran musician hailing all the way back to the halcyon days of the Yorkville village scene in the 1960s has gone to that great stage in the sky.
Gary Latimer, who was also adept on guitar, passed away earlier this week after battling for the past few years with breathing issues occasioned by lung and heart problems according to a post on his Facebook page by longtime friend and musical team member Robbie Rox.
As described in a post in the Vault section of this site of the Monday, September 26, 2021 edition of Toronto Moon, Latimer was the equivalent of a journeyman hockey player, performing in the big leagues and the minors through a long and much storied career.
He was so much a part of the scene that, as described in the Moon article, a stellar collection of fellow musicians performed at an Honouring Our Own tribute concert put on by Pete Otis and his SongTown enterprise on Tues. September 27, 2011.
