Scarborough’s de facto Rock power couple, Catalyst singer Al Reilly and wife Brenda Elaine, not only work together to stage always hugely successful shows by Al’s band, but they’re out on the scene across the GTA several nights a month supporting shows by other groups who hail from the former ‘burb that many regard as Canada’s true crucible of Rock ’n’ Roll.
And if the heart of Rock ’n’ Roll is in Scarb’ra, then the aorta of that heart is this pair, who tonight celebrate Brenda’s April 8 birthday and the April 7th 25th anniversary of them tying the knot in what truly in this instance has been wedded bliss.
There won’t be a candlelit dinner table with pretentious service where they’re going to mark the occasion: Al and the guys will be on stage from about 9:30 at McGradie’s Pub on Victoria Park at Ellesmere, maestroing what’s sure to be a wildly entertaining night of classic hard Rock with a ton of special guests. And if past history is any indication, which with these two it certainly is, no doubt one of the cameo performers invited up to the stage will be none other than the birthday girl/queen of the ball herself! -Gary 17, www.torontomoon.ca
