Durham talents gather to help robbery victim Eric Lambier
/OSHAWA/
We told you on April 3 about how blind Oshawa keyboard player/singer and Elton John tribute artist Eric Lambier was victimized by lowlifes who broke into his home and stole many valuable items (some of which he needs to help him deal with his disability) while he was out gigging.
Howard Ross (who brought the situation to our attention) and the Durham Region Blues Society of which he’s a main mover and shaker, have responded to Eric’s situation by organizing a benefit taking place today, 4 p.m. till close, at popular music bar Simcoe Blues & Jazz at 926 Simcoe St. N. in Oshawa.
In addition to Ross’s own Full Count Blues Band, the lineup includes a diverse collection of artists from various musical genres such as Jaime Wren (Rock), Kim Doolittle (Country/Roots) and Two For The Show (Pop/comedy) as well as a lot of local Blues, R&B and Jazz artists.
There doesn’t seem to be a fixed price for the admission donation, but naturally you’ll want to be generous in order that Lambier can replace some specialized equipment that he uses to help him read music and other material.
The show starts at 4 with a kind of open stage and the confirmed schedule of guests takes it up to around 11, after which, Ross says, “we’ll see what happens”. My guess is you won’t want to leave much before last call.
