Monday is fun-day in Port Credit with two jams on short strip

With not one but two Monday jams happening within a couple hundred metres of one another, music lovers in Port Credit should be happy people indeed.

While the more acoustically oriented open stage with Tom Barlow recently shifted location slightly west (with the closing of Harp Pub and opening of Shore Grill a few doors away at 71 Lakeshore Rd. E. by the same owner) it’s still basically “musicness”-as-usual for the 9-1 event.

Meanwhile with the 10-2 full-on band jam hosted by Kimberley Wetmore at Roc’n Doc’s (105 Lakeshore Rd. E.) now hitting the six-months mark, it looks like it’s here to stay. This club is savvy enough to give events time to develop and has several residencies weekly Sundays through Wednesday.

As I told you a few months ago, The Roc’n Doc’s event also benefits from having popular ace guitarist Dave Girdlestone of Soul Funkshun on board as part of the house band.

With the weather now being pretty much always pleasant (even if it is a somewhat coolish July, it’s still July!) one of these weeks I’m going to surprise Port Credit by taking a road trip out there and checking out both these events –hey, maybe I’ll even sing “Born To Be Wild” or “House Of The Rising Sun”!
