Authentically capturing the angst and irony of the Pop tunes of the 30s and 40s, singer Laura Hubert and her gifted backing players, that include Peter Hill on piano, make you feel the real punch in the songs. Today they bring their time-travel musical machine to The Rex downtown for an afternoon show and then shuffle around the corner to Grossman’s for a 10-2 showcase. -Gary 17

 

 

\ PICKERING \

A lively and talented band that performs a lot in the outskirts of TO, Whatever Sticks is more than ready to light up clubs anywhere in the GTA. Singer Sue Martin is versatile and energetic, with an alto voice that has both character and clarity and is often backed by two harmonies. Guitarist  Jy Fairliy has some killer licks and tone but doesn’t let demonstrating his prowess get in the way of the song and bassist Randall Heydon and drummer Jonathan Ison hold the bottom end together on the group’s wide range of Pop and Rock classics. Tonight they debut at happening West Shore in Pickering. -Gary 17
