Longtime readers of TorontoMoon.ca and its progenitor to-nite will be well familiar with the name Kim Doolittle, about whom we’ve written many laudatory articles over the years.  While her residencies in countryside areas and stints on cruise ships have taken her out of the TO public eye in recent years, her Country/Blues performing and songwriting talent endures and matures. This afternoon she’s the special guest with the band that backed the late Buddy “Bear” Armstrong (who was an old friend of hers) at Southside Johnny’s in Etobicoke, where the group keeps the vibe alive every Saturday 4-8. -17

A duo that draws on the stylings of Seals & Crofts, Simon & Garfunkel and other great acoustic duos of music’s heyday, Mark Yan & Barry Mulcahy [they’re really at the stage where they have to come up with some better name than that!] emerged on the TO scene just last year and have quickly made strides in getting notice. A recent article in the Brampton Guardian featured them when they appeared as part of their town’s Folk club showcase Night last week and they’re also regular attractions at hip little Ray’s Bistro in the burg of Alton outside Orangeville near Caledon. They also impressed audiences at Wintefolk XIII this year as part of a showcase session and have done several gigs now at Black Swan Tavern on Danforth Ave,, where they return tonight starting at 9 for a show along with friends who have a 5-piece Rock band. -17
