They may be called the Unknown Legends, but the new trio put together by drummer Benny Sanders that I heard at Black Swan tavern in early April is comprised of names that will be pretty familiar to longtime readers of Toronto Moon or to-nite before it.
Sanders has gathered up veterans Frank Wilks and Sebastian Agnello to create a kind of east-TO supergroup that can draw on a rich reservoir of original tunes as well as deliver pretty much any Pop, Rock or Country song you can name. This group is so talented that ace guitarist Agnello is playing bass while Wilks handles the six-string and keyboard contributions!
They’ll be touring out east later in May but Sat. night are part of a bill that also includes another Sanders project: sizzling SRV-style Blues outfit The Rave, which features Neil McIsaac on guitar, D’arcy Cain on bass and Tony Carr on sax, for a 7pm show at Melange on Main St. at Gerrard E.
